Federation of Canadian Municipalities Conference – Ottawa Jun 1 – 4 2017

I attended the F.C.M. Conference in Ottawa from May 31 to June 5. This is an annual get together of the many local governments across Canada. It is a unique opportunity to meet and discuss local government issues with peers from coast to coast to coast.

The opportunity to explore Federal funding and support for existing projects and future infrastructure upgrades is the main driving force for this conference. The 2.9 million dollar Killiney Beach water system upgrade is an example of this as 1.9 million of this project funds was funded by the Federal Government. Our local MP Dan Albas helped us acquire this funding saving the residents of Killiney Beach 66.3% of the total cost of this project. Thanks Dan, our pocketbooks appreciate your efforts on our behalf.
