North Westside Governance Committee Report to the Board & Next Steps

Latest Update – June 23 2021

This is the latest information provided to the NWCA on the status of our Governance Study Request.

The CAO, Brian Reardon just sent out a note to the Regional Board with an update, so Director Carson should have received information today as well.

In short what Brian shared was that:

A letter was sent to the Ministry on March 29 with a formal request for a Restructure Planning Grant (you will have seen this already)
The Minister’s Office responded on April 27 asking for more details to clarify issues so a Terms of Reference for a potential study could be drafted
A conference call was held on May 12 between RDCO and Ministry staff to provide this information
The issue was left with Ministry staff to develop a draft Terms of Reference

The CAO confirmed with the Ministry today that we can expect a response from the Ministry within the next couple of weeks.

The information and Terms of Reference developed by the North Westside Provincial Restructure Planning Grant Standing Committee was brought before the RDCO Board on March 11 2021 (Item) 5.2 for discussion and direction. This information came from the January 20 2021 Committee Meeting and the subsequent February 26 2021 Committee Workshop facilitated by Allen Neilson.
