North Westside Governance – Kelowna Daily Courier Article

The article in the Kelowna Daily Courier jumps straight to a referendum and incorporation. This is the narrative I am confronted with again and again from people that live outside the North Westside Community. The local residents that I hear from want an independent governance study or service review call it what you want that addresses their concerns related to local services and functions provided by the RDCO.

Any Study truly reflective of these concerns absolutely needs to include the community in a real fashion and begin with an unrestricted scope. Any resultant recommendation must also be reflective of  community position, study results and any recommendations made by the independent consultant.

Once we have a consensus on a recommendation it then goes to the Minister for his decision upon that recommendation … then we’ll have plenty of time to worry about referendums, status quo and incorporation. Let’s just do the Study and take it from there.
