Media Up Dates … for last week – Reminder on this Thursdays Power Outage, Flooding & RDCO Parks Caretaker Issue
I was at the SILGA Conference in Sun Peaks last week and missed some local events. I thought I would put them all together.
First off remember the Power Outage this coming Thursday from 6am till 6 pm. Here is the media account “Outage cuts North Westside power”
North Westside flooding tackled Was in the Morning Star on Apr 25 with the Story on Flooding.
And again the next day with North Westside flooding continues
I thought that in an emergency with flooding and the fire department deployed to assist that I would at least get the news and a briefing from the Regional District but … it was the media and residents that alerted me as usual. Again I question the 100’s of thousands of tax dollars every year to this organization and they can’t even give me a call on the phone they issued me!
Then there is the RDCO Regional Parks Caretaker Issue, something we don’t general hear about due to the more Vernon oriented media market we exist in. Here is the Kelowna Media with some history. I find myself sympathetic to the Caretakers and a little offended that the Board is the goat here and this was actually determined by the CAO his staff and the Board Chair to be strictly operational and therefore not the Boards or it seems the residents business. Just like the power pole on Killiney Beach, strictly operational. Not my kind of government.
