Fintry Delta

I was in Fintry Delta on Saturday walking the neighborhood and speaking issues with the local residents. Once again Water seemed to be the main concern of the people I talked to. Most residents told me they did not have any meaningful involvement with the decisions regarding their private water supply and the new Regional District system for fire and drinking water.

For the Regional District to build a new six million dollar state of the art water system, prostate place the source it in the middle of their community and not provide at least one hydrant to a neighborhood whose existing system has lost it Fire Flow Certification with the Insurance Industry make no reasonable sense. As fire chief I requested a hydrant next to the pump house on Morden Road as a result of the structure we lost the previous year on Fintry Delta Road, this did not happen. During this fire we had to tank water in from La Casa as the local system was depleted and unable to recover fast enough to keep the Fire Trucks supplied.

As your Director I would open this issue up with a local advisory committee and come up with a more inclusive option.
