Shorts Creek – Flooding, Debris Blockages & Westside Road

Below is Shorts Creek in the Delta area continuing toward the lake.  I started taking pictures just downstream from the Gatehouse/Bridge by the entrance to Fintry Park.

The hairpin turn of Westside Road where it crosses Shorts Creek was a problem area in 2017 when a debris blockage upstream gave way and jammed the culvert leading the credek under Westside Road just north of Station 102.  The woody debris from last year is still piled high on either side of the creek on the east bank where it was deposited by clean-up crews.  The large pile of rip rap just north of the culvert I believe will be used to armour up the east bank of the creek by this culvert to prevent Westside Road from washing out in the event of another debris blockage with the eventual release downstream.
