New Signs for … STUPID People

After two decades of uncontrolled and devastating Wildfires within our Valley and throughout the Province you would think this sign was unnecessary.  Wrong we still have people throwing lite cigarettes and now possibly joints out the car window into the dry brush on the road shoulder.  There is a fine for this and possible suppression cost for the fire and these fires don’t go out cheaply or easily.  Check out the cost of renting a helicopter sometime little lone a water bomer and a hundred person ground crew.

British Columbia has a Wildfire Budget of $63,000,000 this year and has spent about double that to date, and we have plenty of Wildfire Season left this year.  Last year the BC Wildfire expenses exceeded $600,000,000 with thousands evacuated or living under an evacuation alert.  Please be careful with any hot items like your cigarettes, cannabis,  chainsaws, etc. right up to and including your ATV exhaust when you are near or in the backcountry.

REMEMBER THE CAMPFIRE BAN IS STILL IN EFFECT IN THE OKANAGAN VALLEY
