2021 Census – February 9, 2022 – Update North Westside Breakdown

The 2021 Population Census Highlights are out and EA West has seen a huge increase in population. We have gone from 1991 residents in 2016 to 2897 in 2021 a 45.5% increase. I have asked for a breakdown to more specific areas such as North Westside, Wilsons Landing/Traders Cove, Trepanier, Bear Creek Road and Brent Road. I don’t know if this is possible but would be interesting as residents to know the details of how your local community is growing. If I get the information I will post it.

The Community Services Department at RDCO sent me a great breakdown for EA West. Thanks Todd and Krista this is exactly what I was looking for.

The North Westside like so many other service and function boundaries actually is covered by two Census sub areas when mapped. In 2021 it is 59350255 (Westside Road west) &  59350471, (Westside Road east). In 2016 the maps are 59350255 (Westside Road west) & 59350256 (Westside Road east).

Comparisons are interesting in light of the 45.5% population increase in EA West. Here are the facts:

North Westside : 

2021 Population 2105 and 1443 dwellings, 974 occupied.

2016 Population 1349 and 1218 dwellings, 635 occupied

Wilsons Landing / Traders Cove

2021 Population 707 and 383 dwellings, 281 occupied.

2016 Population 536 and 365 dwellings, 230 occupied

Trepanier

2021 Population 85 and 36 dwellings, 35 occupied.

2016 Population 96 and 38 dwellings, 36 occupied
