2018 Update on Central Okanagan West – Issues

Following the January 11 2018 RDCO Board Meeting I met with CAO Reardon and the Fire Services Manager. The purpose of the meeting for me was to get information that I could pass along to the Residents regarding their service issues and concerns. I would have to  submit a Freedom of Information Request for the emails sent to me answering my/your questions and concerns that I for some reason am not allowed to share with you the taxpayer as they are “internal corporate documents”. The theme of the message to the RDCO Board from the original presentation delivered by the Provincial Ministry Staff for establishing and maintaining a working relationship seems to have been missed or ignored by the RDCO CAO

Power Pole on Killiney Beach – Update

At the end of 2017 I received an email from the RDCO CAO regarding the power pole on Killiney Beach. I requested permission to share this information with the residents and was told that the information provided to me was “considered corporate documents for internal use only. (So much for restoring the transparency and trust found missing by the independent consultant in the North Westside Services & Issues Review)

Killiney Beach Fire Hall/Community Hall Water Main Break – Update

After three months with no water supply to our community buildings the repairs are soon to get underway. Currently I am being told that this will be covered by Insurance and that we as residents will only be on the hook for the deductible portion of the repairs. This is a very good thing as there may possibly be structural damage to the building (yet to be determined) as well as the water main break and its repair/replacement. It could very well be a couple more months before normaL operations return to all three buildings; the fire hall, community hall & library.

North Westside Services & Issues Review – Update

We are still awaiting the Staff Report requested by the RDCO Board on October 23 2017. More information is available on this Web Site or through the RDCO North Westside Issues Page. I was informed by email that the Staff Report following the North Westside Services and Community Issues Review_Final Report will be presented to the Board in January of 2018 and as to date we have already held our first meeting without this report I am hoping it will be a part of the next meeting scheduled for Monday January 22 2018.
