Water Quality Advisory for Westshore water system

News Release

Water Quality Advisory for Westshore water system

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a precautionary Water Quality Advisory for all customers of the Westshore Estates water system.

The advisory affects all properties serviced by the system following infrastructure upgrading work today on the Northern View Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) replacement project.  Roadside sign notices are in place advising of the water advisory which will remain in effect until further notice and testing confirms water quality is within acceptable Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.

As a precaution it’s recommended that all customers, especially those with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly should boil all water intended for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages, ice or brushing teeth for at least one minute.  As a safe alternative to boiled water from the tap, customers may choose to use bottled or distilled water.

As previously noted, approximately 60 properties serviced by the Northern View PRV in the area of Westshore Community Park on the following roads listed below will have another service interruption on Friday relating to this project:

  • Bluebird Drive
  • Hillside Drive
  • Northern View Drive
    • Even addresses 350 – 392
  • Pinecrest Road
    • Even addresses 10736 – 10790
  • Westshore Road
    • Even addresses 10614 – 10818
    • Odd addresses 10725 – 10801

Following Friday’s work, RDCO Engineering Services crews will then flush the system to remove any impurities that may have entered the system during the construction.
