Killiney Beach/Westshore Water System Upgrades

RDCO CAO briefed me after the Jan 23 2017 Board Meeting on the status of the water system work taking place on the Killiney Beach upgrade & the Westshore reservoirs replacement. “Every thing is on track and on budget” that is real good news to the ratepayers of these two water systems.

I also took this opportunity to address the rumours circulating the community in regards to a “no rock” clause in the contract. This has led to resident concerns because of the rock encountered on Winchester causing a disruption in the continuous trenching for the new mains. The CAO has assured me that he knows nothing about a “no rock” clause in the agreement and he believes that the rock encountered is a contingency that the project managers and engineers have taken into account and it will be dealt with as the project progresses. We agreed that a no rock option would not make any sense for a water system installation on the side of a mountain.
