Governance Study Request to RDCO Board by the North Westside Community

This is the North Westside Communities Association’s Press Release following the North Westside Governance Committee Delegations presentation to the Regional Board of the Central Okanagan.

It’s history in the making!

The North Westside  Communities  Association’s Governance  Committee delegation made a presentation to the RDCO Board last night. Bob Andrews, the association president and committee chair explained the desire of the North Westside for a governance study for their community.

The gallery was full with residents in support, despite the fact that a portion of Westside Road was closed because of the Bear Creek fire and the residents had to travel over an hour an half each way to go to Regional District in Kelowna.

The board members showed great  interest in the communities’ desire for a governance study, and invested an hour and a half asking questions and getting answers. Board members, including Chair Given, commented on the fact that although without power close to 24 hours, and the exceptional length of travel, the Governance Committee received excellent representation of its various communities that it represents.

At the conclusion of the presentation and question period from the board, the board has instructed the RDCO CAO and his staff to prepare a report on governance for the North Westside as soon as possible. The hope is to send Director Carson to  UBCM with a resolution of support from the board for a governance study for the North Westside Community.
