Aspen Shores & Westside Road – Mud Slide

Busy day on the North Westside.  This slide was seemingly a result of the culvert carrying drainage from the Killiney Beach area being diverted down the ditch network on Westside Road; flowing under the road in a culvert depositing the water flow onto a steep bank that obviously could not handle the flow which saturated the ground that then gave away and sloughed when no longer able to support the extra weight.  This event caused a four hour power failure and brought Westside Road traffic to a halt … eventually moving again as single lane traffic with MOTI flaggers replacing the fire department for the long haul while the road is repaired.

Here is a link to the CHBC story on the incident.
