North Okanagan is Banning Single Use Plastic Bags

InfoTel News story reads North Okanagan is banning single-use plastic bags. I am extremely disappointed that RDCO is not a partner in this legislation. The issue was brought before RDCO by myself and several other Directors but the powers that be decided that it did not deserve the attention and priority of our Board to address this important current issue.

RDCO has taken pride in being leaders in local government legislation why are we lagging in this critical first step to regulate plastics before they kill us and our environment.  Every bit of plastic manufactured in the last seventy years is still with us, most in the oceans… what a scary thought.
