Westshore Bandstand – Completed

The Bandstand and drinking fountain projects at Westshore Community Park are completed and looking good. Thank you to the RDCO Parks Service we didn’t make Canada Day 2016 but we are in good shape for the important 150th Canada Day Celebration in 2017. I spoke with some of the local musicians and they are itching to get it properly broken in. Some music in the park days this summer is a likely prospect.

The Drinking Fountain, although shut off for the winter at the moment will see much use this upcoming summer of 2017. Soccer Season for the kids league as well as baseball, volleyball, basketball hoop or many of the other activities taking place in this park will find this fountain a nice addition. If you look at the picture you will see that the fountain includes a bottle fill and dog water bowl … nice touch.

I found this Picnic Shelter in the Vernon Morning Star. It is a new addition to Paddle-wheel Park in Okanagan Landing. The article said that they constructed it with volunteer help at a cost of $49,000. What a beautiful and useful addition to their Park Site. This is the type of project this community used to do for ourselves at huge savings in what is now tax dollars. Our bandstand was in  excess of $70,000 fortunately Gas Tax Funding was available as opposed to your Local Tax Requisition.
