Flooding in the North Westside – Video of Killiney Beach Slide

Fintry Delta has been put on Evacuation Alert due to log and debris jams around the culvert where Shorts Creek flows under Westside Road at the hairpin turn just North of Station 102. Highways has responded and once the debris was cleared the water levels started dropping in that vicinity. The bridge by the gatehouse is of concern due to the rising water levels at that section of Shorts Creek so Fintry Park has been evacuated.

Meanwhile down the road to the north we had a small mudslide in Killiney Beach Park. The concern here is Hodges Road as the slide stated at the eastern shoulder and into the turn around by the boat launch. I have pictures of the beach and up on Hodges Road.

It would sure be nice to hear about these events from the Regional District rather than the other way around. Both these flooding events today and the ones last week I first learned from my residents and the media.
